Chad, who never lacks culinary wisdom or creativity, set up stations where residents could snack on sample portions of items from the new menu. These included a stir-fry station with a chef cooking food to order and an “Italian market,” classics like a soup-and-sandwich station, and dessert table. The goal was to give diners the opportunity to sample as many items as they wanted and vote on their favorites.
If the stations weren’t inventive enough, Chad also came up with a number of ingenious ways to present the dishes in snack-sized portions. For the tomato soup and grilled cheese, we poured the soup into shot glasses and garnished each of them with a spear of grilled cheese. Our rainbow cake was served in clear glasses so everyone could glimpse all of the colors. We even managed to score some mini bread bowls for the broccoli and cheddar soup.
Nobody wants to fill out a comment card after they’ve just finished an array of delicious dishes, so Chad came up with a clever way to make feedback easy. Residents received tickets along with each dish, and they dropped the tickets of their favorite dishes into a glass at each station. After finding out which dishes were the most popular and making some final tweaks, we Pinnacle Dietary began serving the Fall/Winter menu at all Windsor Health Care locations on November 26th. It’s a great privilege to work alongside these facilities to create meals residents love.
Given what a hit these events were, Chad will be under a lot of pressure when the next Pinnacle Menu Committee meets to devise a new menu. But we have no doubt he’s up to the task!
